Natick shows that “Love is Louder than Hate”

August 2, 2024

On August 1, FCCN and First Lutheran Church held a join community gathering on our porch as a response to the hateful acts against us (discovered July 28). The event was very well attended, with several hundred people stopping by over the 3 hours. This included town officials, religious leaders, nonprofit leaders, and many community members of all ages.

Our guests were invited to take a strip of colored cloth and write something meaningful to them. (For instance, “Love is love is love.”) These strips were then woven into a metal frame forming a Peace Art Flag (aka ONA Flag, for “Open and Affirming”).

The flag created that night (pictured above) now hangs in our worship space. It is a visual reminder that the majority of our Natick neighbors value love and inclusion over hate.

You can see dozens of pictures from the event on the FCCN Facebook page.

There was also a nice article in the Natick Report.
